'Master, where do you live?' 'Come and see!'

  • A Prayer from Grahame Park. "It's very simple to me. I love where God has put me. I adore my home. I love every nook and cranny. I am in utter astonishment that every moment there, can be just for me. I love my balcony. I love my living room. I love my upstairs. I love my downstairs. I love my bathroom. I love my toilet. I love my door. I love my letterbox. I love the mat outside my house. I love the road that leads me to the shops. I love the shops. I thank God for the shops. I love the four churches to choose from. I love the park in front of me. I love Quakers Course from which I can bus off. I love the people I can speak to if I want. I love that I shall be there as long as God wants me to be there. I love the fact that God has listened to me and I shall be happy in my home. I thank God for what he has given me." (R.T.)
  • God in all things (‘toolbox’) Finding God in all things is a theme of Benedictine spirituality. Our response to that God is present everywhere is one of profound thanksgiving. The tool: Pick a task that you can perform regularly. It can be anything from driving a car to preparing a meal to making particular phone calls. Then, each time you do this task, put on a heart of love and listen for God. Do a nightly thanks review. At the end of each day record three to five things for which you were thankful. My guess is that over time, your daily list will expand as you put on the glasses of thankfulness as you view the world. Take a Thankfulness Walk. Begin with your sight. As you walk, look around. Give thanks for the ability to see. Then move to hearing. Give thanks for your ability to hear. Give thanks for each and offer prayers for those who cannot hear. Be a spontaneous give of thanks. When something wonderful happens, give thanks. When something bad happens, try to give thanks, too. The latter is difficult. Give thanks for the people who are helping you through a difficult time, or who share your joy! /Source: St. Benedict's Toolbox, The Nuts and Bolts of Everyday Benedictine Living by Jane Tomaine /

THE SIMPLEST WAY to learn about Christian faith is  to join our Sunday liturgy when we celebrate together at the Table of God's Word and at the Table of the Eucharist.
The Christian faith can be known only through practice. This knowledge of God and his Church is never theoretical. The way Christians celebrate speaks for itself. Come and join our modest liturgy, in a humble and humbling surrounding. Together we can learn to pray; to pray better, to act better. The point of religion is to become a better person for our beloved ones and neighbours. We believe that Jesus Christ is the most direct way to God, whom we know as a loving Father. 'Master, where do you live?' 'Come and see!' (John 1:38-39)

SOME WORDS YOU MIGHT SAY TO THE LORD

Lord, help us

Lord Jesus,
when you come again at the end of time,
we shall already know you a little
through the gift of your body which you left us.
Help us to be ready...

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me,
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds, hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from you.
From the malicious enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me,
and bid me come to thee.
That with your saints I may praise you,
For ever and ever. Amen.

Angelus

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women, and blessed the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
