To get married at St Augustine's, we would need to know if you live in the parish (this is the geographical area that the church has responsibility for) and you can find this out by clicking here. St Augustine's is part of the parish of St Alphage, Burnt Oak (Hendon).

If you are a resident in the parish or you are on the electoral roll of our parish you are entitled to marry in St Augustine's. If you don't live in the parish of St Alphage, Burnt Oak with St Augustine's, Grahame Park, you can get married by a qualifying connection.

There is a legal procedure which must be followed when getting married in the Church of England and we are happy to work through this with you. Usually, one can get married if he/she has one of these qualifying connections:

− one of the parties was baptised in the parish and if it took place with the confirmation
− If the parents of one of the parties were residents or worshiped for 6 months in the parish
− If parents or / grand parent married in the parish
− If one of you is a regular worshiper with us

Then, we will have 5 sessions of preparation in which we learn of the sacrament of marriage, go through the service and administration, and other practical arrangements (music, flower, etc.)

Marriage is a public act.  It is made public by:
  • the reading of Banns on three Sundays, or

  • by licence, or

  • Superintendent Registrar’s Certificate (if one of you is a non EEA national). In this case you have to apply for the SRC, and having obtained it, you are permitted to have a marriage in a church (The qualifying connections apply to this form too, but you must obtain the SRC instead of banns of license.)

For fees visit the bottom of this page (pdf document).

For reading of banns (when on of the parties is living in our parish but the marriage will take place in another CoE Church), - please, visit our Parish Office (arrange a date) with a valid ID document, you can download the form for reading banns below.
