a Community guided by Love and the wisdom of Saint Benedict

SAINT BENEDICT'S RULE IN OUR COMMUNITY

Initially, we just read from the Rule only occasionally. Then, the Rule started challenging us. Surprisingly, Benedict's wisdom addressed our own issues - the way in which we organise our life at Saint Augustine's. Though life in a monastery is very different, the task of holding together a community is very similar. Benedict combines the love of Christ and our neighbour with responsible stewardship. We need to address similar issues like Benedict did in his own community: accountability, conflict resolution, attentiveness to differences, strengths and weaknesses.

At the end of our Eucharists we read a passage from the Rule. We want to be challenged and shaped by Benedict's vision of how the Kingdom of God works among us. One of us reads from the Rule. We are trying to apply it to our own life situation (family, workplace, parish).

We are experiencing a loving authority in Benedict. His wisdom is a reflection of the Wisdom of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Rule helps us to work better together. While reading the Rule, we sense the presence of our Loving Heavenly Father.

We are proud to build a local cell of the Kingdom of God! The spirit of the Christian community, the presence of the Twelve Apostles, is genuinely felt. It is worth toiling in this School of Discipline! Join us!
